Personal

I was born in Puigcerdà (Girona), to a Galician family, and I have spent more than 25 years in this IT world, split between development, systems and teaching. What I am interested in, above all, is understanding the problems well before anything else, and then explaining what I do in a way that is understood.

Interests and hobbies

As a child I practised judo, it served me to temper my character. Even today I still like everything to do with sport, but what I really like is technology, in general; at some point I was called a "technologist": artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, remote work, teamwork, hypertext, multimedia, teaching, office software, … are topics that, as well as being things I enjoy, I have had the chance to take into the professional field.

The truth is that I do not get bored: crafts, things made by hand (leather, clay or other mouldable pastes, … or whatever comes up), what today is called "DIY" or the handmade crafts of a lifetime, are also my thing. With the 3D printer and the laser cutter, I "make things" —as M. Rajoy would say—, with no greater aim than to entertain myself. And then there is the tinkering with SBC devices (Raspberry Pi, Orange Pi, Arduino, etc.). In the blog posts and/or projects I will show you some of what I have been making.

It must be taken into account that all this, in the end, comes to be the same thing: technology put at the service of people, let the machines work for me (or for you, should it come to that). Automations, for example, serve me to get repetitive tasks off my back, they are nothing more than a way of gaining time for what truly interests me —although sometimes if I did directly the work I am trying to automate I would finish sooner—.

Professional

I have been working in the IT sector for over 25 years, this always at the crossroads that there is between development, systems and teaching. What I am interested in is solving concrete problems with solid and maintainable technology, and explaining what I do in a way in which anyone can understand it.

Before choosing a technology, what I do is understand the context first, something which comes to be going from the problem towards the solution. The code, the clarity and the documentation, these I prioritise above novelty, the which are aspects that in the long run are appreciated. On the other hand, I manage servers, domains, email and deployments end to end, so that I have autonomy to do so. It is worth emphasising that I have been teaching programming and office software to adults for years, this both on-site and online.
